Postdoctoral Scholar position at UC-Berkeley/ Energy Biosciences Institute: Synthesis of plant cell wall polysaccharides - 16.09.2011
The Energy Biosciences Institute (EBI) at The University of California - Berkeley invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar available immediately in the group of Dr. Markus Pauly. Applicants should have a recent doctoral degree in plant molecular biology, plant biochemistry, plant biology, or related field. The position is funded for up to three years.
The position encompasses the characterization of genes involved in hemicellulosic xylan O-acetylation in grasses. Due to the recent identification of a xyloglucan and mannan O-acetyltransferase in Arabidopsis in the Pauly lab it is expected that some of the corresponding homologous genes in the grasses are responsible for acetyl-substitution on xylans.
Experience in molecular biology and protein biochemistry are essential. Knowledge of plant cell walls and analytical carbohydrate chemistry are of advantage.
Applicants should submit a resume, a summary of research experience, and names and addresses of three references via e-mail to Dr. Markus Pauly () or by mail to Markus Pauly, Energy Biosciences Institute, Calvin Laboratory MC5230, University of California - Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, 94720-5230. For further information see the Pauly-website (http://paulylab.berkeley.edu/ or http://mollie.berkeley.edu/profile/markus-5106421722).
